Tackling the Medical Humanities

At the 129th MLA Annual Convention this week in Chicago, forums and discussions will take place on the future organization of MLA divisions and discussion groups. The current proposal calls for a new forum called “Medical Humanities and Health Studies.”

In late 2013, we interviewed Catherine Belling, the new editor of the journal Literature and Medicine, for our podcast series, She spoke about her new position and the intersection between the two disciplines some may think as quite different. She discussed the many ways literature and medicine often work hand in hand, a topic surely of interest to those looking at the new MLS structure.
