JHU Press author Michael Olesker delivered a terrific talk at Baltimore’s Enoch Pratt Free Library on October 21 about his new book, Front Stoops in the Fifties: Baltimore Legends Come of Age, which tells the stories of Jerry Leiber, Nancy Pelosi, Thurgood Marshall, Barry Levinson, and other famous Charm City personalities as they came of age during the period immediately preceding the culturally tumultuous 1960s. The program was well attended by an enthusiastic crowd, and book sales were brisk. If you couldn’t make it, no worries: here’s a podcast courtesy of our friends at the Pratt.
A Baltimore Sun columnist for 25 years, Michael Olesker has authored several other books, including Michael Olesker’s Baltimore: If You Live Here, You’re Home; Journeys to the Heart of Baltimore; and The Colts’ Baltimore: A City and Its Love Affair in the 1950s.
